| Completed in late 2002, Oasis21 is an interesting architectural structure located in the heart of Nagoya. While the lower floors serve as a bus terminal and shopping area, the upper area park provides a much needed "green spot" in the dense downtown area. The structures dominant feature is an elevated, translucent roof that contains a shallow pool and a glass walkway that visitors can stroll around. The roof pool serves both to reduce the heat island effect in the summer as well as to recycle rain water for irrigration of the park below. |
